Pulse of the Wind, 2022
Stainless steel, stainless ropes, artificial silk.
approx. 300 x 150 cm
Pulse of the wind is a temporary site specific installation located on a cliff by the ocean in Westfjords. The installation consists of a metal frame, that resembles the electricity poles that we can find flowing through the Icelandic landscape, and a floatley bright artificial silk that moves and ripples with the flow of the wind.
The constant blowing of the wind fills the fabric creating changing shapes that embody a unique silhouette in the landscape. We cannot see the wind itself as it is a natural phenomenon, only its consequences - in the waves of the ocean or moving clouds. The installation itself is like an implement that shows the essence of this powerful element of nature. It is a place where land, sky and sea meet accompanied by the wind.
The installation attracts the viewer with its vivid contrasting and unusual color in the local landscape and vibrant movements to experience metamorphosis and reflections on the relationship between human and nature.
